I was debating back and forth in my mind if I should write this article or not, cause speaking and talking about death can be a really sad topic. But, I felt like I had to, since openings and endings are kind of a big part of my life, and this singer was a big contributor to that. Sadly, it was recently announced that singer Sayuri has passed away at the age of 28.
It was truly a sad day for her family and everyone close to her. Death is never easy to deal with, and it’s always a shock when it happens. If you’re not familiar with Sayuri or her works, one song I know from her that was kind of my first introduction to her was the song Mikazuki, the ending theme for the anime Rampo Kitan: Game of Laplace.
The song is amazing and beautiful, and now after her passing, the music video has a different meaning to it. Learning that she passed because of a chronic illness that she’s been dealing with, made the anime girl that was in the music video make more sense, or atleast, hit differently.
Her unique screeching voice that also had a pleasant tone and can sound soothing at times was a joy to listen to, and it’s sad to see her go at such a young age. I always complain about how old I’m getting and how it upsets me, but when I read about Sayuri, I realize how young I still am. She passed at the age of 28, she had so much more years ahead of her, but it was sadly cut short. I do hope with all the wonderful music she’s made, that she was able to pass being proud of her works and accomplishments. Here’s a few songs from anime that contain her wonderful vocal performance.
A prayer for the family and everyone who’s close to her, cause this is most likely hurting them the most of all. And to everyone else, appreciate the things she left behind for us.
Have you heard of Sayuri? What’s your favorite song by her? Have you heard her music in a anime before? Tell us in the comments.
