Resident Evil Showcase Gives Us a Closer Look at Olga & Much More
By Yung Namahage • 3 years ago

Capcom went live not long ago with their Resident Evil Showcase, giving us a first look at gameplay from the upcoming RE Village, as well as some other surprises. But did we get more of Olga the ginormous goth MILF? Hit play or read on to find out!

As we already knew, Village uses the same RE Engine used by Capcom games since RE7: Biohazard, as well as a similar gameplay style to Ethan's former outing. Classic Resi setup, i.e scouring areas for items to help you survive or progress to the next required area while fending off monsters. The monsters here seem to be deformed and feral villagers plus those vampires/witches who seem very keen to get a hold of Ethan. They use magic but they also drink blood so I haven't decided which one they are yet. Both? The important thing is Olga refers to them as her daughters, so in case you doubted she counts as a MILF, there's your proof. And that voice is just dripping with sex appeal! Who do I talk to to get an audio doujin made?

Ethan's search for his own daughter takes him from the snow-ridden village in Eastern Europe to the castle inhabitated by Olga and her coven. The castle has a very gothic atmosphere similar to the Spencer Mansion from the first game, but the creepiness is turned up due to the first person camera. If you've played RE4 then you might be seeing a parallel to Leon's journey from a village to a castle run by another evil organisation. But that isn't the only holdover from 4, the iconic inventory screen is back, too! I'm pretty glad to see it because I thought it made blasting ganados so much more satisfying knowing your shit is sorted neatly, and this time it has the added bonus of crafting. Moreover, Ethan will run into a character called The Duke throughout the game, who serves as the resident merchant. Handy if you ever need to upgrade your firepower or get some emergency healing herbs.

Combat is similar to Biohazard with an added guard move for minimizing damage. We got to see one of the game's bosses, this staight outta Yharnam dude in shades that we first saw in the reveal trailer. Olga mentions her brother failing to stop Ethan, so maybe this is him. But I've also seen speculation that this is Daniel Fabron, the French Umbrella security officer and only new mastermind in RE Resistance who wore similarly round sunglasses. Maybe Daniel is her brother? Olga Fabron doesn't sound too bad.

This year is the 25th anniversary of the first Resi's release in Japan, so to celebrate Capcom have put together Resident Evil Re:Verse, a multiplayer mode bundled with Village like Resistance was to the RE3 remake. It looks to be a multiplayer shooter with a cel-shaded aesthetic, featuring fan faves like Jill, Ada and H.U.N.K plus playable monsters like Nemesis and Jack Baker. I see no reason for Olga not to be in it, but no sign of her massive vamp tits so far.

Capcom have also partnered with Ubisoft to bring Resi-themed items to The Division 2 including Leon's RPD outfit, which you can ublock by logging in to the game from February 2-15.

We got word that Residen Evil: Infinite Darkness, the upcoming 3D CGI movie centered on RE2's heroes Leon and Claire, will be released on Netflix this year. It has no relation to Netflix's own upcoming RE live action series, which will tell a brand new story within the RE universe.

And finally, there's a standalone demo for Village out right now only on PS5, called Maiden. Like RE7's Beginning Hour, you play as someone other than Ethan in a short, combatless tour of one of the game's locations. You take control of a woman trying to escape from the castle, so you can take in the spooky atmosphere before release. There'll be a new demo coming this spring for all platforms. Speaking of which, Capcom confirmed that the game will release on current gen consoles, i.e. PS4 & Xbone, as well as next gen ones, on May 7. Pre-orders are up now, including two deluxe editions. One includes a statue of Chris, but I think they missed a step by not making a statue of Olga instead.

So, are you pumped for Village? Which reveal got you psyched the most? What are your theories for the game? Drop your thoughts below!
