Kandagawa Jet Girls Makes a Splash With Gameplay Footage & Limited Edition
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

We've gradually been hearing more and more about Kandagawa Jet Girls, the upcoming multimedia project from Senran Kagura producer Kenichiro Takaki that follows various teams of schoolgirls in skintight wet suits, racing each other on jet skiis and shooting at each other with water guns. The anime will debut very soon, but details have been light when it comes to the game side of things, Fortunately, we've had a flood of new information, gameplay and even a first look at the game's opening cinematic, below:

Firstly, we now know that the story will be a coming-of-age drama focusing on Rin Namiki as she competes in a series of tandem jet ski races against teams of other girls, and the story of the game will play out differently to the story of the anime as well as feature characters that aren't present in the anime. Alongside the story mode will be a free play mode and online multiplayer, which is a good touch. Gameplay will consist of a "Jetter mode," where you race through a course, and "Shooter mode," which is where you have to make your rivals as wet as possible; plus you can customise not only the jet skiis but the girl's outfits. Catch a glimpse of some gameplay (plus a lot of jiggling in case you forgot this is from the same studio as Senran Kagura and Valkyrie Drive) from the initial live stream reveal here:

Finally, there's a special edition known as the "DX Jet Pack" that includes a box designed by Hanaharu Naruko, an exclusive 21 minute OVA on Blu-ray, an artbook, two soundtrack CDs, limited edition box art and DLC featuring Yumi and Asuka from Senran Kagura as a playable team, plus the game itself, which'll set you back ¥13,800 (about $128)

Kandagawa Jet Girls hits PS4 in Japan on January 16 2020, so hopefully a worldwide release is set to be announced soon.
