Jujutsu Kaisen is on Indefinite Hiatus
By ImJustThatKinky • 2 years ago

Shonen Jump already has a very popular manga series in their weekly magazine, Hunter x Hunter, on an indefinite hiatus. With no sign, or any word on when it’s going to come back, it’s a sad and depressing wait for more chapters. But then, a new and upcoming series that gave me the same vibes as Hunter x Hunter, Jujutsu Kaisen, came to help curve that Hunter x Hunter itch. But now, Jujutsu Kaisen is starting to give me some Hunter x Hunter vibes I didn’t want to feel, by going on an indefinite hiatus.

It seems that the artist for Jujutsu Kaisen, Gege Akutami, has become sick and is in need of rest. Which is good, if the artist needs to rest, then give it to them. We don’t need more manga artists dying because of stress, and the pressure of trying to bang out a weekly series, week by week. When they’re healthy and can handle the weekly deadline, then cool, do it. But when their bodies are getting to that unhealthy state, it’s not a bad thing to take a week or two break. Hell, even a month if you need to. If Gege Akutami hasn’t been feeling well, maybe that can explain the latest manga chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen art.

Man, I said that Jujutsu Kaisen feel like Hunter x Hunter, but I didn't want it to start looking like Hunter x Hunter.

So yeah, it sucks that Jujutsu Kaisen is going on hiatus without any knowledge of when it’ll be back. But that’s better than a manga artist dying from overwork and having no chance of coming back. If we want to see the end of Jujutsu Kaisen and not the end of the artist's life, then we have to let these manga artists take breaks when they need to.
