Is Blue Lock The Next Big Sports Anime?

Now I’m not into sports or sports games, but I’m hella into sports anime. I’m not sure why, but anime just makes sports more interesting and enjoyable for me to watch and actually want to try out. I can’t remember if it was Yowamushi Pedal or Haikyuu!! that got me into sports anime, but those are two that I highly recommend for anyone interested in getting into sports anime. Those two are ones I would consider some of the greats, (sorry Kuroko no Basket fans, I couldn’t get into it). I haven’t seen a really good sports anime in awhile, but luckily, a sports manga that I’ve heard people hyping up is getting an anime soon, and that’s Blue Lock.

You have two different kinds of sports anime. You have the Kuroko no Basket, where people have super power and inhuman abilities, and then you have Haikyuu!!, where people might be talented and super skillful, but they try to keep the moves in the realm of reality. Now I think both of these approaches when it comes to sports anime are cool and acceptable. From the trailer, Blue Lock seem to be going for the Kuroko no Basket route, with the players all being kind of weird and have superman-like powers. Which can easily make for some hype as fuck momments.

He's entering, the zone.

Now it’s not like sports anime are hard to come by, but I do think good sports anime is hard to come by. You can find at least one sports anime each season, whether it’s just boys doing sports, or girls having fun in a sports club. But, a good chunk of those for me are just forgettable. So I’m looking forward to Blue Lock helping me with my sports anime drought.

If not, atleast I'm getting another season of this.

Have you heard of Blue Lock? Are you hype for Blue Lock? Do you watch sports anime? Tell us in the comments.

Eh, I only have Eyeshield 21 on my sports anime list mostly because it looks nuts.

From the description of the manga, its a very stupid concept.

Have not heard of this series nor do I patronize sports anime/manga. Shit last sports based series I was into was Prince of Tennis back in the day and even then, it faded after less than a year. Might check this out nonetheless.

Honestly I don't think anything'll top Ping Pong. Short, sweet, weird, epic, and one of the most boppin' soundtracks ever. Doesn't really follow the typical sports anime formula, but I'd refuse to call it anything but "an anime about ping pong."
