All the way back at the end of last year ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°), some news was circulating around that the American restaurant known for their scantily-dressed waitresses, Hooters, was considering a rebrand after learning that most millennials aren’t glorifying boobs as much these days. An interesting debacle to be sure, however one quick search of this information will inform you that this rumor has no grounds and no such rebrand is being considered. Normally I’d link an official statement but they basically shut it down with one tweet: “this is the fakest news that has ever newsed”, wrote Hooters. So unfortunately that little rebrand idea didn’t make it far. 

Regardless I still wanted to cover this story, because while the meme may be fake, I honestly do wonder about the growing focus of ass. It used to be that boobs vs. ass felt like an even 50/50 split and I honestly couldn’t tell you which was more popular. While I still can’t say I feel a definite winner in terms of raw sexuality these days, I can tell you that ass is clearly more popular. Thicc memes, the Jack-O ass up meme, dump truck memes, and the sound of the ass cheeks clapping meme all brought ass into the front and center focus of a ton of people. The only boob-related meme or term I can think of lately is mommy milkers or calling them bazoingers, bazookas, etc. and I don’t consider that level of joking around to be on the same page as how influential the ass terminology and memes have been. It seems like most lewd art I come across in the mainstream these days includes a huge ass and it’s interesting to see such a popularity shift. Again I’m not saying if we did a nationwide survey of “boobs or ass” right now that ass would win hands down, merely that the booty is simply being more talked about as far as I can tell.

Since doujins are Japanese born and raised, I’m curious if you guys even notice this shift to focus on ass over here among American memes and sexy artwork. If it wasn’t for logging into my Twitter every now and then to see how much is burning I might have missed it myself as doujins don’t seem to follow this same trend at the moment.
