           For those of you who don’t know, tentacle porn is a wide variety of genre that deals with, as the name suggests, tentacled creatures. This genre was thought of to be exclusively from Japan with The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife as a good example. However, it was Roger Corman and Daniel Haller who used the genre in a motion picture. The Dunwich Horror, a 1970 independent horror film based on a short story by H.P. Lovecraft was the first film that features tentacle and sex. And they said the Japanese are weird.

           Now, one might ask: “Why tentacle porn?” it all has to do with the strict censorship of obscene materials in Japan. There was a lot of things that needed to be censored, but mangaka Toshio Maeda managed to find a way to dodge censorship laws by using tentacles instead of male genitals. His argument is that “tentacles are not genitalia, and that the act between a human and a creature isn’t sex, meaning that tentacle hentai no longer fit the legal description of “obscene.”

Yup, this isn’t obscene at all~!

           You might be wondering, why did this weird hentai category became popular? Well, of course, “Sex Sells!” Another reason that I can see why tentacle porn is so popular is because of the bad reputation and its weirdness piqued the people’s interest. Or, maybe there are a lot of people who just straight-up loves watching tentacle porn.
