I thought I was going to talk about Brazilian Miku once, and then go on to talk about other things, but nope, I found something else about the girl that I wanted to bring up. Me and Yuag both wrote an article on the Brazilian Miku, mine here, and his respectability here. But when I checked up on his article, I was surprised to see that Doodly wasn’t the person to create the Brazilian Miku design, but artists akioskdebap, in a Youtube video.
And then we have Doodly's art.
Now, with the video being posted August the 14th, and the drawing being posted August the 17th, it shows a noticeable gap in time. But still, both designs are different in a way. While the Youtube version is more chibi and wears a more like, Brazil soccer shirt, Doodly version has a flower in her hair, and jewelry and beads all over.So maybe she didn’t copy, but then, I did even MORE searching and found out that Doodly or akioskdebap, wasn’t the ones to come up with Brazilian Miku, but artists Erin.
This was posted in June, way before akioskdebap or Doodly, but this is the picture that got the least amount of attention. The original version is the one that’s under most people's radar. Hell, even Know Your Meme got it wrong.
I guess they don't know their memes.
So now you know the TRUE origin of Brazilian Miku. The original artist doesn’t really seem to mind that she’s not getting the credit for the original design, which is strong of her. Because I know me personally, I would be hella upset. But maybe that just means I’m a big cry baby.
What do you think about the original Brazilian Miku art? Would you be mad if you weren't known for the original design? Are you happy about the Brazilian Miku meme? Tell us in the comments.
