Almost three years after its inital release Persona 5 is still garnering a lot of attention, especially because of the recent Persona Super Live 2019 event in Tokyo. Joker making a guest appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, dumb "journalists" creating fake controversies over it and an upcoming rerelease of the original game with a boatload of new content. But the latest bit of news is... unexpected, to say the least.

You might remember hearing about a "Persona 5S" being announced alongside a "Persona 5R". The latter turned out to be The Royal, the aforementioned rerelease with new characters, features and an extended story, and the former was speculated to be a port of the original Persona 5 to Nintendo Switch, which would make sense seeing as Joker is playable in Smash on the Switch but not in the game he debuted in. Well, it turned out to be a game for the Switch at least, but it's far removed from the stylish turn-based combat the series is known for.

Atlus has collaborated with Koei Tecmo, known for the Dynasty Warriors series, to bring us a Musuo-style game based on Persona 5, known as Persona 5 Scramble: The Phantom Strikers. Check it out for yourself below.

This isn't the first time Koei Tecmo have collaborated with other franchises using their established Warriors formula; Gundam, One PieceFist of the North StarBerserk and The Legend of Zelda have had their own large scale beat-'em-ups. Details about Scramble are scarce at the moment but we do know it'll be released on Switch and PS4. A western release is still to be confirmed but it's probably a given considering the game's massive success overseas.

What do you think about this new announcement? Do you think Persona would work well in the style of Dynasty Warriors? Drop your thoughts in the comments!

I am somewhat excited and disappointed at the same time. I hope it turns out for the best.

I mean warrior games can be fun, but I still would like that switch port you know. i mean I played Hyrule Warriors to death but you burn out fast on warrior games. So when Fire Emblem warriors came, I didn't both to play it. Might do the Persona stuff. The real question is story wise. Since I play persona for the story and characters. Can they be captured right in this format.

I don't know why people thought a switch port was Just cause of a "S" in the title? Like anyone who cares about JRPGs or Japanese titles should've invested in a sony console. Nintendo gets those games but it's more than likely Sony would have them too. And every "main" persona game was on a sony console as well.

It's almost as bad as the people questioning why xbox isn't getting it.
