An Interview with Darkra
By Kasaix • 4 months ago • 0 comments

Kasaix: Hello Doujin Army! I’m here with another great artist. Darkra has been on my watch list on Hentai Foundry for a while, and I finally got around to reaching out to her for an interview. Her art is just incredible. The girls look fantastic, coming in different forms, even different species from different worlds, but they all look beautiful. Her use of shading makes them just pop off the screen and bring them to life.

But I digress. Thank you for taking the time to hang out Darkra. How’s it going?

Darkra: Hi I’m doing great, right now I’m working on some  projects

thanks for the chance to have this interview

Kasaix: It's my pleasure. What sort of projects are you working on?

Darkra: well I´m working in the second part of a game I worked on last year, It's called Pure Heart Chronicles, and making rewards for my Patreon page.

Kasaix: Oh, that sounds interesting. I had no idea you worked on a game. I'll have to take a look later. But before all that, could you tell me how you first got into art?

Darkra: haa how I started on all art? or hentai art? well I started drawing since I was very young, my first inspiration was Sailor moon.

I loved their outfits, and they were really fun to draw, I also made a lot of drawings for my friends on the school and their boyfriends XD

Kasaix: That's nice that you did all that for your friends. Sailor Moon was also my first anime too. Did you go to an art school, or are you all self taught?

Darkra: well, I had some studies when I was younger, and when I finished school I did a year on an art academy on my city. I worked a couple of years making designs for cute greeting cards, dolls and plushies

and then I got the hang of drawing chibis and cute things

years after I wanted to change my art focus, and with the help of a colleague I decided to enter into the "hentai-world", trying to improve every day with every piece I made for the clients.

Kasaix: That's awesome. You had one heck of a career progression, going from plushies to hentai. I can see it though. The chibi pictures of your OC are really cute. Do you have a backstory for her?

Darkra: Well some years ago I Role-played with some friends (old school style, with paper and pen) and created the name of Darkra, she was a Lycan and I was really fond of her.

years after I used her as a Warcraft OC and there I made her base appearance.

she's kinda cute when in chibi form but can be very naughty when I work on lewd stories.

Kasaix: I can definitely see that happening. Besides her, what are your favorite characters and themes to draw?

Darkra: I always had a thing for the style and characters from World of Warcraft, I’m really lucky because almost all my commissions come from clients with OCs from that game, I love to draw Elves, Orcs, Worgens, Armors, Fantasy themed backgrounds.

Kasaix: Your fantasy-themed pictures are always great. There's a lot of medieval style work there, and I love it.

What do you feel is your best picture yet, and why?

Darkra: I just love Ysera, she's my favorite character from WOW this fanart I think have everything I like on a drawing, I love that is a Warcraft character with vivid colors, i like to work on details and she has a really cool armor (and a great backstory).

Kasaix: Amazing work. The colors are bright and lively, Ysera looks great, and the mystical aura is really interesting.

Is there a project you'd really like to work on down the line?

Darkra: Well I’m really happy right now with how my work is going, and I love every commision I make.

But I would be really interested in working for my own comic or  game project, I did it before and even if it was really hard, I loved to see the characters interacting with each other.

Kasaix: Right, Pure Heart Chronicles. Where can people find it?

this is the first part, my team and I are working on the second part ^_^

Kasaix: That's great. I'm definitely going to take a look at it later. But let’s wrap it up here for now. I know you're going to be busy today. Do you have any final words to all your fans?

Darkra: I´m really grateful for all the people who like my work, they are helping me live the dream, drawing what I love for people who love what I draw, I will be learning and getting better with every new image I do, and will always try to deliver something that shows how much I love every piece I work on.

I’d like to thank Darkra again for taking the time to hang out. If you’d like to follow her work, check out the sites below:
