Coming up on their 35th anniversary, AIC, or Anime International Company, Inc., is planning to revive a number of their premier classic series. One of them is the legendary isekai series El-Hazard. Along with Inuyasha, it helped to popularize the isekai genre, a genre that sees people thrown into another world to have fantastical adventures.
AIC is planning to crowdfund a 5 minute pilot, seen HERE. They currently need ¥5 million to fund it, which rounds to $45,000. They have interested parties to help partially fund it if they hit their goal, so a crowdfunding effort may be to prove interest. With enough fan support, AIC hopes to secure funding for a full anime, which they say will cost about ¥200 million, or $1.81 million.
The series they hope to find is titled El-Hazard: The Dual World. It will feature two protagonists in an intertwined story, Naoto and Farasha. Naoto is a popular thickheaded student whose life is upended due to a mysterious cat. Farasha is an airhead who dreams of becoming the student council president. Their worlds collide due to the collapse of The Eye of God.
I said that El-Hazard was just one of the series AIC hopes to revive, right? The others include Magazone 23 sin, Megazone 23 XI, and Sasami 14, a part of the Tenchi Muyo! and Pretty Sammy franchises.
