A Review of Sakura Fox Apprentice
By WakeUpSnooze • 4 years ago

Nutaku asked us to take a look at some of their games, and here’s our opinion.

Ladies and gentlemen, after a month-long break or so, I’m back and ready to cover some more Nutaku games. If you aren’t familiar, I once did a Sakura series on the site where I played a hella bunch of Sakura games in an attempt to explore the franchise and catch up. I definitely failed. There’s so fucking many dude. Regardless, I figured what better way to return to form than to see what the latest installment has in store.

Sakura Fox Adventure is a yuri visual novel game that was published and developed by Winged Cloud. It can be found in the downloadable section of the Nutaku website. It was released on the website on October 15, 2019 and requires a 176MB download. The system requirements are stereotypically lower than dirt as is expected from a visual novel. You can pick it up for $9.99.

Production

If you’re familiar with Sakura at all, then you already know to expect the soft, cutesy, yuri aesthetic that the franchise brings to the table. The art here is in full form. The characters look good, but what really caught my eye was the background. You spend a lot of time in forested environments in the novel and some of the backgrounds in said environments looked really fucking good. Maybe it’s just because I’m a nerd who doesn’t spend much time outdoors, but the shades of greens used to make some variety in the shots looked fantastic. The music was pretty standard. It sets the mood and kept things lively though I don’t intend to look it up or listen to it outside of the game itself.

Get blocked, you fucking casual.

Writing

You play as a fox apprentice that is being trained to one day become the leader of your village. Your mother is the current leader, and thus great expectations have been thrusted upon you. One day, after training with your mentor you decide to visit a human festival and enjoy yourself. Hijinks ensue, plot twists occur, and the story unfolds. There’s nothing I have bad to say about the story, just not much good either. I can’t say I learned anything that important or became too attached to the characters. Ultimately I felt it was an average story that did its job to provide some context for the sex. While it did touch on some interesting topics (doing what you want to do vs. what others want you to do), I couldn’t say I was presented with anything super fresh or new regarding the topic.

Nah take it from me, don't trust us.

The Sex

I must say, I was happy with one key decision that they made in this department. In the past, Sakura games had a habit of hiding the pussy away sometimes. Not always mind you, just enough that I get scared occasionally. Tricky camera angles, objects, sex positions that obscure it, for whatever reason I remember all of these being utilized in the past to hide the pussy from the viewer. Luckily I struck gold this time around because someone did me a solid and allowed full artistic display of the genitalia in this title. A round of applause for you, good sir or madame. Unfortunately, that’s my main praise for this section. There’s still no voice acting done on the characters, or animations put into the sex scenes. While the sex dialogue was fine, I’m hoping the arrival of 2020 will signal some more polish being put into this section for this franchise.

Clean up, clean up, everybody lick your share.

TL;DR An average story, average sex, and average production won’t let me justify giving this title anything other than a 3/5. If you are a big foxgirl person then go for it. Otherwise, I’d have to recommend searching for Sakura Dungeon (for the gameplay) or Sakura Swim Club (for the story) instead of this one. Both of those are on Nutaku as well.

Do you love foxgirls? Will you be checking this out? Have a game on Nutaku you want reviewed? Leave a foxy comment below!
