Everyone is getting hype to hear more about Persona 5 R. People were hoping that the announcement was a Switch port of Persona 5, but with the teaser trailer showing a Playstation logo, many Nintendo fans felt let down (don’t worry, there’s still a chance for a Switch port). But before we talk about a Persona 5 Switch port, let’s talk about the bigger question. What the heck is Persona 5 R going to be? Many people speculate Persona 5 Ruby, an expanded version of the game in the same vein as Persona 4 Golden. Which could be the case, but with how well Persona 5 was with it's gameplay, social links, the added bonuses you received after the social links, and the pretty close tight story, I really don’t see the need for an expanded version. Me and my friend thought that maybe they were giving the Persona fighting game series a new title like Persona 5 Rematch instead of Arena. Kind of a stretch, but it’s a possibility. It could be Persona 5 Racing, but that’d be stupid. But then, me and my friend thought of something that was also stupid...but also cool. Persona 5 Reloaded! Now please hear me out before you call me stupid!
The idea for Persona 5 Reload is that of a 3rd person action rpg and shooter. Think of something like Nier Automata for the single player experience, but once you hop into online multiplayer, it’d play something similar to S4 Leagues or Gunz the Duel. Or for people who don’t play MMOs, Uncharted and Assassin's Creed.
The single player would be cool, but the game would truly shine in multiplayer. It could rival Overwatch for competitive shooter. Your character has the ability to wield one unique melee and ranged weapon, reminiscent to that of the Phantom Thieves. You could hop over big gaps and scale walls, just like the Phantom Thieves. And once you get a kill streak, you could summon Personas like Arsene to set the enemy team aflame with Agi, or move around the map fast with Johanna. This honestly could be a cool and different twist for the Persona series.
Now people might think this sound ridiculous and unlikely, but Atlus be doing some crazy things. They haven't hit us yet with their ...LAST SURPRISE! They made a dancing game because Persona is known for its amazing soundtrack. They made a chibi game because people always wanted to know what would happen if Chie and Akihiko met each other. And they also made a fighting game because the characters all have unique fighting styles. And now they’ll make an 3rd person action shooter because they have a cast of gun wielding, acrobatic thieves. So bring us Persona 5 Reload! I’ll give you guys the idea for free!
