Sonic's 30th Anniversary Commemorated by Cock Ring Advert in China
By Yung Namahage • 2 years ago

It's officially been three decades since Sega shook up the gaming world with their now-iconic blue hedgehog. The big milestone has been celebrated with an online concert, Sonic DLC in Minecraft, an upcoming remaster of Sonic Colors and a cryptic teaser for the next big game in the series, among other things. But I bet nobody expected a sex toy brand would want anything to do with Sonic

A post on Chinese social media site Weibo by none other than condom giant Durex is blatantly trying to ride on Sonic's quills. While it doesn't depict  the condoms the company are usually known for, the ad shows a Durex Pleasure Ring made to look like a ring Sonic would pick up, as well as a familiar white gloved hand.

The ad is obviously not endorsed or approved by Sega so it's wild that they got away with this, but that's probably the reason the advert was only shown in China. Matter of fact, Durex's subtle yet suggestive social media posts have earned them a reputation on Weibo, so this is at least on brand for them, if not Sonic. Sonic probably doesn't need a ring to nut fast.

What do you guys make of this? What's the weirdest reference you've seen in an advert? Let us know below!
