Berserk Creator Reveals New Series
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

Berserk fans know that feeling, every once in a blue moon when a new chapter is released, that Guts' 30 year struggle is one step closer to its inevitably epic climax. The latest, chapter 359, is definitely no exception, and features a pretty great bombshell I won't mention here due to spoilers. This new chapter was released in Young Animal with the news that Kentaro Miura will be returning more often with even more new manga chapters, but the catch is that it won't necessarily be Berserk.

Miura will be producing a brand new series titled Duranki, created by his own Studio Gaga. The new title appears to also feature a fantasy-inspired aesthetic but seems to be lighter in tone than Miura's older, edgier magnum opus. Duranki stars a child of indeterminate gender named Usmugar who apparently carries the name of a dragon. It's confirmed that it'll be set between the heaven and earth and the protagonist won't be human or god. Maybe an angel? He/she/they kinda look like one. As far as gender goes, if you've read Berserk or Miura's other, more recent series Gigantomakhia you'll know that the renowned Idolm@ster fan may have a thing for lolis.

Duranki will debut in September in a brand new magazine created by Hakusensha called Young Animal ZERO. Like Gigantomakhia and Berserk before it it'll probably be brought to the west sooner or later. What do you think of the upcoming series? Will you be excited to check out Duranki? Or would you prefer if Miura focused on finishing Berserk first? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
