Senran Kagura: Peach Ball Finally Gets Western Release!
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

Times seem to be tough for Senran Kagura. The series' longtime producer has left development studio Marvelous due to increasingly puritanical restrictions on the kind of games he wants to make, which has made development for the upcoming Senran Kagura 7EVEN rocky, to say the least. Things aren't all bad, though: spinoff game Peach Ball is finally seeing the light of day outside of Japan!

While the franchise usually focuses on fanservice-laden beat-em-up action between well-endowed kunoichi schoolgirls wearing fragile uniforms, there have been plenty of spinoffs that bring the series' beloved cast of ninja waifus to brand new settings and genres, including a rhythm game, a third person shooter and a dating sim. Originally released in December 2018 in Japan, Peach Ball is the latest instalment in the series and brings the sexy shinobi to the world of... pinball.

After being turned into animal girls, Asuka, Yumi, Yomi, Ryona, Murasaki and Haruka find that the only way to turn back to normal is to, of course, take part in pinball tables. But this ain't your granddad's pinball; fulfilling certain conditions unlock "sexy challenges" and their next level, "super sexy challenges," which demonstrate all the fanservice the series is infamous for. The announcement trailer doesn't contain any gameplay, but let's be real: nobody's getting this game for the pinball aspect.

Here's an older gameplay trailer in Japanese if you're interested. Like Senran Kagura Reflexions it utilizes the Joy-Con controllers' HD Rumble feature to elicit haptic feedback alongside jiggle physics. Who said ecchi games aren't innovative?

Senran Kagura: Peach Ball will be released digitally in Europe, Australia and North America on the Nintendo Switch this summer, with a limited edition physical version available from select retailers in North America.
