Mushoku Tensei Dodges Western Controversies And Announces Season 2
By WakeUpSnooze • 2 years ago

Not many things will put a smile on your face quite like seeing an announcement that an anime you enjoyed is going to be continued. Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation has been popping off and earning a strong following for a pretty non-mainstream anime. Mushoku had a bit of a rocky start over here in the West as the story depicts reincarnated Rudeus (aka a 34 year old dude reborn as a complete baby whose childhood we watch, all while his pervy tendencies from his previous life stay intact). I personally can’t be bothered to care about most age shit in anime unless it’s truly abhorrent, but at the start there was a decent amount of people over here who hated the idea as Rudeus often interacts with and teases girls way below the age of 34 even though he physically is near their age in the new world. The perviness did get on my nerves from time to time but never enough to stop watching the anime.

That next arc do be lookin' good.

Regardless I didn’t hear about much backlash in Japan and thus they’re over there moving forward. To my understanding a special unaired episode was shown off in a preview screening that depicted a journey with Eris and Ruijerd that happened while they were separated from Rudeus. It was hinted at in the anime when Eris mentioned they were busy fighting goblins but not shown in detail. Well, the episode will be included on an upcoming Blu-ray disc, however it also had a preview screening and at the end it announces that the second season has been greenlit. At the time of writing there’s no release date yet but it’s in the works and hey that’s enough for me as a fan. These days there’s so many poppin’ entertainment releases that I’m more concerned with “are we working on it?” than “when’s it coming out”. Fans of the show can rest easy that more is coming down the pipeline.

Crazy part is this is kinda canon.

Hope this announcement can serve as some good news to any fans of the series. Whenever the new season ends up coming out I’ll be there to continue the journey. This is definitely the best isekai I’ve seen in a while since I haven't watched Re:Zero…I mean I haven’t watched Re:Zero yet. Are you watching Mushoku Tensei? Were the early controversies warranted or just whining? Are you excited for the new season? Grab your wand, cast a spell, and leave a comment below!
