Jahy Is This Season’s New Brat

Okay, we need to have a talk. One annoying smol girl that won’t ever shut the fuck up and acts like a little gremlin in the form of the infamous Uzaki-chan? Alright I’m chilling. Even though she makes me want to slap her upside the head. What’s this? Add in another girl who is more manipulative yet equally annoying and abrasive in the form of Nagatoro? Damn. I’m suffering now with all these bratty girls. But I suppose if anime promises to stop, I can calm down and let them live in peace. So that’s why… ah hell they already made a new bratty bitch for this season. And I thought we got off scott free too…

A late entry to the summer lineup, The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated has just recently begun airing. This season has been a bit dry so I didn’t mind checking it out. Jahy is actually the second most powerful being in the Demon Realm, however after a mysterious figure shatters a mana crystal and destroys it, Jahy is thrust into the human realm and stripped of her powers (and adult body). Now she must find a way to regain her glory while only being able to transform back into an adult for a small period of time each day. I knew this brat was going to be reminiscent of her former archetypes from her look alone, but I didn't know how far that extent would reach. After watching the anime for mere minutes I thought “god DAMN this bitch is similar to Uzaki.” Well, one Google search later and the mystery was solved my friends. Jahy and Uzaki are played by the same damn voice actress. On top of having similar personalities, it was like watching one of your enemies come back to haunt you in a slightly different form.

Oh brother.

Only one episode is out, so I’m not saying all this to try and attack Jahy for being a copycat or anything. Who knows how the series will pan out. What I AM trying to do here is figure out why this archetype is taking off these days. I mean it’s like everytime you turn around there’s a new girl who is annoying as fuck, mixed in with enough cuteness that you don’t want to rip her head off (most of the time), and then topped with a dash of sexiness to mess with your mental. I’m not sure if it’s a Japanese thing or what but girls like this seem to be all the rage these days. I’ll admit the archetype does shake some shit up from the basic pure anime girl who loves to cook, clean, and complement the MC without ever actually contributing to the plot. On the other hand I don’t know how many more of these Uzaki-like characters I can take before I’m ready to give up on similar series. For now I’m going to give Jahy a few more episodes, but I need to see some unique attributes come along that build upon her being from the Demon Realm.

All I'm saying is the doujin potential is ripe.

On the bright side, since Jahy has a super lewd adult form, I hope that means we’re going to get some doujins where she’s put in her place for all the ranting and arrogance she’s put out into the world. Now that’s a plot that’s hard to get tired of. Are you watching this anime? Why is this archetype doing so well recently? Did Uzaki-chan popularize this type of girl, or was there a big anime before it that I missed? Escape from the Demon Realm and leave a comment below!

The thing is, Jahy exists to suffer, while the other girls you speak of simply get away with being smug brats.

Mostly a comedy, feels more along the lines of dropkick my devil jashin-chan or gabriel dropout.

Satania was like this and same for jashin. Unsure which came first though.

to be fair, Jahy was second in command living in a castle before falling down to where she is, while she does act like a brat, it honestly the kick she needs to become humble which does show later on

Damn it all, now I’m gong to think of Uzaki as I watch this anime. Thanks. I wanted to enjoy a Devil Part Timer type of show. To be honest, as I watched the first episode without headphones, I was over heard and the response I received was “she is noisy.”

I've mostly just seen panels from her manga used for meme material.

I don’t think something like Uzaki might have done anything since the manga wasn’t nearly that impactful and there were other series with a similar archetype that pop up around the same time. I would say Skilled Teaser Takagi-san was one of the more older ones. But as for the appeal, comedy? See teasing turn to love? Can also be maso tendencies which I’m for. Get more femdom content but who knows.
