Is Death Always in the Search Bar?
By ImJustThatKinky • 2 years ago

I know this might be a weird article title, but it’ll make sense soon. What I’m talking about is how everytime I’m trying to type in an anime character's name to maybe find a picture of them, one of the first suggestions in the search bar would be the character's death. I was trying to find things about Eris from Mushoku Tensei, and what’s the first thing I see…

Yep. Eris' death. Guess I know that Eris dies in the series now.

Now, since I’m an anime only watcher, SPOILER ALERT! She hasn't died...YET. But, now that I’ve seen this, all I can think about now is, “Oh, so I guess Eris is going to die soon.” It sucks having that in the back of my head while watching the show, but the funny thing is, she might not die. The only reason that’s in the search bar and at the top, is because that’s what most people are searching for. Why? I’m not sure. Maybe everyone just wants to spoil the series for themselves.

And you can run into this with any anime series...well, unless it’s something like a slice of life. But any series that might have some kind of action in it, or battles, type in that character's name, and you’ll most likely see one of the top results being their death. Don’t type any character names when it comes to Black Clover, My Hero Academia, or Jujutsu Kaisen. I bet all those characters had deaths according to the search bar.

Wait, Yuji dies? So who's the main character in Jujutsu Kaisen now?

Have you seen this problem before? Why do you think people search for character death so much? Do you hate character deaths being spoiled for you? Tell us in the comments.
