Fate-Adjacent VN Tsukihime Gets Remake
By Yung Namahage • 3 years ago

Type-Moon revealed during the Fate Project New Year's Eve TV Special that they're working on a remake of their 2000 eroge Tsukihime, known as Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-.

One of Type-Moon's earliest projects before they went on to create the Fate franchise, Tsukihime is about a guy called Shiki Tohno, who's had the ability to see lines coming off things and beings that kill or destroy said thing or being after the lines are cut since suffering an accident when he was younger. In his second year of high school, Shiki is invited back to live in his family home since he was cast out after his accident, so he moves back in with his sister Akiha before tangling with vampires in a sprawling narrative with plenty of waifus and routes to choose from. The remake features a rewritten story by original writer Kinoko Nasu.

The visual novel was given a manga and an anime adaptation called Lunar Legend Tsukihime, plus a sequel in 2002 called Kagetsu Tohya as well as a fighting game spin-off, Melty Blood, in 2003 and it's been confirmed that the game takes place in the same universe as Fate/stay night. The upcoming remake features a new voice cast, which is shown off in this trailer along with updated art and character design plus some footage from the animated intro by ufotable.

If you can't read Japanese (don't worry, I can't either) the voice cast includes Ryosuke Kanemoto (Wieltab Text in Super Robot Wars V) as Shiki, Shino Shimoji (Georgia in Azur Lane) as Akiha, Kaede Hondo (Suzuran in Arknights) as Ciel, Ikumi Hasegawa (Casablanca in Azur Lane) as Arcueid, Yuki Kuwahara (Sideroca in Arknights) as Kohaku and Kana Ichinose (Yuzuriha in Dr. Stone) as Hisui.

Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- will be released on Nintendo Switch and PS4 (meaning PS5 as well through backward compatibility) this summer. Are you a fan of the original? Are you hyped for this remake? Let us know below!
