An Interview with DrAltruist
By Kasaix • 1 year ago

Kasaix: Hello Doujin Army! I’m here with another great artist who agreed to be interviewed about their art. DrAltruist has been on my radar for some time, and for good reason: her art is excellent. One of the cool things she does is she’ll put up different versions of the same picture, where the girl is wearing different outfits in each version, or there’s a futa and non futa version. She also hits the high notes, drawing popular girls that a lot of people love.

But I’m getting ahead of myself. Thanks for taking the time to hang out DrAltruist. How’s it going?

DrAltruist: Hey! Thanks for interviewing me. I'm doing well, working on some art just as usual ^^

Kasaix: It's my pleasure. What art are you working on now?

DrAltruist: It's actually a secret but I'm trying my hand at animation. Can't say more than that!

Kasaix: Oh, I can't wait to see that!

Before that, could you tell me how you first got into art?

DrAltruist: Can't really tell when I started for the first time. I've always liked to draw but as a fickle hobby. Never posted any of it. I started to seriously focusing on drawing NSFW anime-style art almost two years ago. I started to do commissions at the same time, trying to earn some money. It was a spontaneous decision caused by my health problems.

Kasaix: That's nice, you just fell into it and turned it into a career. You're really good at it too! Of course, I'm not going to delve into your health problems, but I certainly hope you're doing well.

Did you go to an art school, or are you all self taught?

DrAltruist: I was attending art classes when I was 7 y.o., does it count? ^^ I'd say self-taught. I had books on drawing when I was a kid. Later I studied tutorials and videos on the web. I'm also following various artists' work, it's really motivating and helps to grow.

Kasaix: That's nice. It's good to know there's always online tutorials to learn art.

What are your favorite characters and themes to draw?

DrAltruist: Hard to pinpoint particular characters. I like to draw characters from Fate/Grand Order. But I rarely have an opportunity to do it cuz it seems that not many of my watchers/subscribers are fond of this fandom. As for themes, I like fantasy-themed and colorful stuff. I love designing unusual outfits and draw characters from interesting angles.

Kasaix: Nice. Your works do have a lot of colors to them, and are definitely fantasy-themed. Your new work from today, a crossover I never thought I'd see, has both.

Fantasy, because it's Sailor Moon and My Little Pony, and colorful, besides the obvious colors on the characters, the seat that Sunset Shimmer is on. It blends from a light-red color down to purple. That detail is amazing.

DrAltruist: Thank you very much! Though it was a commission so all credits for idea goes to the customer ^^ It's already fourth Sailor Moon x MLP crossover art from me.

Kasaix: Fourth? Looks like I'll be digging through your archive later to see the other three. I may have seen them and just forgot.

What do you feel is your best picture yet, and why?

DrAltruist: I really like this:

Ishtar from FGO, SFW one. It's been a while since I've draw it but I still like the colors, pose, background, etc. Also Ishtar is one of my favorite characters from FGO.

Kasaix: Great work. Your style is really shown here, it's really colorful and fantasy-themed done well.

Besides your secret animation project, is there a project you'd really like to work on down the line? Maybe like a comic?

DrAltruist: Recently I've finished MLP-themed short doujinshi/comic. It was really energy- and time-consuming so I don't have any similar plans for now. Nevertheless it was an interesting experience.

Kasaix: Oh nice! Where can people see this?

DrAltruist: It's available on my Twitter and FurAffinity. I had some troubles with posting it on HF but I'll try again a bit later

Kasaix: That's great. I'm definitely going to take a look at it later. But let’s wrap it up here for now. Do you have any final words to all your fans?

DrAltruist: I want to thank all my subscribers and watchers for support. Especially my customers and patrons. I couldn't even dream that I'll be able to work as an artist. Thanks to everyone who supports me, I can draw every day, improve my skills and become better. Thank you very much! ^ __ ^
