It recently came to our attention that animator Chengxi Huang made a short animation of adult Hinata and Naruto having sex. It was pretty tame and vanilla by anyone's standards. However, he was bombarded by hatred, prompting him to pull the animation and issue an apology. The motivations of this reaction are anyone's guess, and we here at Doujins can guess: it's because the shipping wars still continue.

During the original run of the series, fierce shipping wars were held, deciding who would be a better fit for the protagonist and titular character, Naruto: Sakura Haruno or Hinata Hyuga. Both are great characters, they're cute, useful in the story (despite popular opinion calling Sakura completely useless), and have long, lasting bonds with Naruto. It seemed to be a toss-up in the story, with a chapter even showing a fake confession from Sakura to Naruto. Considering Naruto always expressed interest in Sakura, who liked Sasuke, and with a shy Hinata off to the side infatuated with Naruto, it was a mess of a love situation. Thus, the wars raged.

Now here's why that's silly: they're both great characters and no matter who Naruto would end up with, they would be happy. Except Hinata if he ended up with Sakura. Probably why he ended up with Hinata, because if Naruto ended up with Sakura, Hinata and Sasuke ended up alone. But I digress, the wars were senseless. Both are great characters, and neither really hated the other. Sure, Hinata might have had some sense of jealousy because Naruto liked Sakura, and they spent a great deal of time together, but aside from that one weird movie where Sakura and Naruto end up in a parallel world, they were allies, if not friends. They wouldn't have come to blows over a guy, even if he was Naruto.

 To put it to rest, let's take a close look at the girls in question.

Hinata Hyuga is the cute, shy, and later busty, girl who is infatuated with Naruto. She's the shy girl most rooted for, perhaps because they saw a bit of themselves in her. She was off to the side, silently pining for Naruto. She was also a princess with an inferiority complex. All of that made many root for her.

However, she was no damsel in distress. She could fight with the best of them, possessing special eyes that allowed her incredible field of vision that she could use to break a person from the inside. Later, she gained even greater strength and saved the hero himself. 

 Sakura Haruno is the typical cool girl who could make friends easily, and was one of many girls crushing hard on the dark and stoic Sasuke Uchiha. She was the complete opposite of the shy and nervous Hinata. Because of a rumor that suggested Sasuke liked girls with long hair, she and Ino grew their hair out to please him, and Hinata made sure to keep her hair short.

While she started off more clever than strong, she grew as a character and kunoichi as the story progressed, becoming a top fighter alongside Hinata, gaining incredible strength and healing powers from training with Tsunade herself. They cooperated to save Naruto and fight Pain. The start of her growth came when she cut her hair short to fight an enemy kunochi, deciding she had to win and save her friends over keeping her hair at a length she assumed Sasuke liked.

So, let us as fans just enjoy them for who they are. 'Make hentai, not war' is our motto at Doujins.
