Trigun is Getting a New Anime Adaptation

Didn’t I say that this was the year for remakes of anime and video games. We just got a trailer of the Last of Us Part 1, which is just a remake of the first Last of Us. And in the anime world, we got a remake of Urusei Yatsura. And now, we’ve got news that a new Trigun anime project is in development. There hasn’t been any official news at this point, but there’s been rumors and word of mouth, so fingers crossed.

I remember getting small glimpses of episodes of Trigun on Adult Swim when I was younger, but never really actually sitting down and watching it. So like all old anime, this is a great chance for me to watch it in all its glory if a remake is actually coming out. I’m hoping to see that cute short haired nun again, in remake form.

Cute.

Blood Blockade Battlefront got an anime adaptation, and that was the latest series to be written by the Trigun magaka. The anime was done by studio Bones, so it makes you wonder if Bones will be the one picking this up and giving it a fresh new coat of paint. Hopefully we hear news on Trigun: Brotherhood real soon.

Just imagine if the new Trigun looked like this.

Are you excited to hear that a new Trigun anime is coming out? Would you like Bones to do the adaptation of Trigun? Have you watched Trigun before? Tell us in the comments.

She's not a nun. She's an armed insurance agent.

Wow, it's been a while. Vash was quite the protagonist, has an infamous reputation and deadly skills yet is generally a good guy who is fun to be around. Talk about a blast from the past.

I feel fans have been wanting a reboot of this for 20 years. The Badlands Rumble movie was supposed to build hype but most people didn't even watch it. Plus some of the crazy stuff the anime didn't cover would have been impossible to animate back in late 90's. Hopefully if this is true a good studio and crew is behind it.

I remember seeing someone make a Vash cosplay character in City of Heroes almost twenty years ago; now I wonder how many people these days have ever heard of Trigun.

I originally hated the ending when I was in college, but now I think the ending is just about perfect. Hope they don't futz with it in the remake.

Mixed feelings. If you watch the old series, the animation holds up. They don't often make em' like they used to.

Trigun was one of my favorites back in the day, so I definitely welcome this. Also, while we are saturated with remakes, I don't mind them when they are for anime that effectively didn't finish the manga story or finished with their own made-up conclusion that sometimes simply wasn't as satisfying as the manga ending. In that respect, I hope they eventually remake Soul Eater.

I didn't like this show too much on it's original run back in the day, but I watched it later in my 20s and enjoyed it greatly. I'd watch more.

Is it wrong if i took this as a sign that Psyren could get an anime, as, like Urusei Yatsura, is a pretty old series that while still in the public mind has been finished for a long while and therein is not what would normally get an anime?
