Mysterious Berserk Announcement Promises "New Beginning"
By Yung Namahage • 3 years ago

It's been almost four years since the release of the last Berserk video game, and over three since the last episode of the Berserk anime. The latest manga chapter was released two months ago, and while it appears to look like Guts and co are preparing for the last leg of their long journey, there's no way to know for certain when we'll get answers to all those questions we have about what'll happen with Casca in the future, or when Guts will cross paths with Griffith once more. Naturally, Berserk fans tend to get... berserk over the slightest promise of new content, and this latest announcement has the entire fandom howling like a pack of starving wolves.

The Young Animal website added a crpytic new page, showing what appears to be a previously unreleased illustration of Guts and his trademark huge-ass sword on a blood-spattered background, overlaid with a bunch of iconic panels from the long-running manga. Apart from the series' Japanese logo, the only noteworthy text says "The New Beginning," along with a date - October 9th 2020, less than three weeks from now.

There's been plenty of speculation over what this could mean. Could the "New Beginning" mean a rerelease of the older manga chapters? A spin-off? Could the series be getting rebooted? A new video game, perhaps? How likely is a live action adaptation? Or even another anime adaptation that'll no doubt cover the Golden Age arc once again? Adi Shankar, the man behind Netflix's Castlevania, has been pretty vocal about wanting to adapt the manga with the respect it deserves. Could it be that he's finally obtained the rights to it? Or maybe we'll get a third season of GEMBA's 3DCGI clusterfuck? After all, that's the same logo that was used for the 2016 anime. Plus the anime's Twitter has been kinda active lately. All signs seem to be pointing to the latter, but hopefully that's not the case.

Only time will tell just what this "New Beginning" actually means. I'll be sure to follow up on this when we finally know for certain. Until then, sound off in the comments with what you think it could be!
