My Hero Academia Goes Beyond With Battle Royale Beta
By WakeUpSnooze • 11 months ago

Buckle up boys, it’s beta season. Looks like another one will be available to check out soon, this time in the form of My Hero Ultra Rumble. Ultra Rumble is an upcoming battle royale game featuring the My Hero Academia franchise. Looking at the gameplay it’s seemingly following the new trend of battle royale games where you control specific characters with unique abilities and combat styles to form a squad and win like Apex Legends, unlike Fortnite where the gameplay stems entirely from the weapons and vehicles available to all players on the same map. Form a team of three amongst heroes and villains to play with your friends and take down the opposition to be the last ones standing. Here’s a gameplay trailer.

The beta test will run from May 25th starting at 10 A.M. EST to June 2nd, wrapping up at 2 A.M. EST that night. This beta test includes twelve characters and is only for PS4 and (possibly?) PS5 specifically and can be pre-downloaded in advance. According to their own website, the full release will be on a variety of platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Switch. To be honest this game looks like a fun ride to try out, but I’m not sure how much staying power it will have. My Hero Academia seems to be stuck in this weird loop of releasing action games that are almost great, but lack the last layers of depth to really stand out. Hand over the rights to Arc System Works to make a My Hero Academia Fighterz, and it’d honestly be a safer bet I’d think. Then again the popularity of the battle royale genre far exceeds that of a traditional complex fighting game, so maybe I’d get the business killed with dumbass decisions. Either way, I’m looking forward to hearing reviews on this one and perhaps testing it out myself. After the Street Fighter 6 beta, of course.

Regardless, fans should be clamoring to get their hands on a fresh game so I hope some of you are excited. If nothing else it should give lewd artists some fresh ideas for sexy scenarios to depict. Are you watching My Hero Academia? Will this game be a huge hit, a big failure, or somewhere in between? Will you try out the beta? Find your quirk, squad up, and go plus ultra in the comments below!
