The correct answer is neither, she’s actually Indian. And if you didn’t get the title reference, it was based off a song called “Gay or Eurpean.” But anyway, enough of my old nostalgic ass, let’s talk about Vivi casting in season 2 of the Netflix live action One Piece.

Now, with more information, this might seem a little more understandable. Arabasta is based on Egyptian and Middle Eastern counties, and Vivi being from there, the casters wanted to be a little more faithful. And in fact, Oda is also a part of the casting process. So honestly, if you hate the casting, and that point, you just hate Oda's decision as well. Most likely Oda is trying to go for a different vibe seeing that this is a live action One Piece compared to an anime version or manga. Hell, I always wished that another studio would handle the Attack on Titan live action. It would have been great to have European actors and other races for that one, since that’s Attack on Titan whole thing.

Where the hell is Armin?
And it’s funny to see how people went straight to attacking the casting without having any context behind it.

And then back pedaling.

I will always have an issue with them turning the Little Mermaid black for the movie, some decisions are just completely retarded. But some decisions like Vivi being Indian, or them having a Mexican actor for Luffy, can work. And if the original creator is giving it the green light, maybe we should at least give it a chance. Everything doesn’t have to be a result of DEI, some things are actually just changing because of the new resources a creator has, or the new medium they’re able to work with. But hey, at least Robin looks anime accurate. They even got the nose right.

What do you think of the Vivi casting? What do you think of Robin’s casting? Are you going to check out the Netflix live action One Piece Season 2? Tell us in the comments.
