Some people are terrified of regularly sized insects, even if they can fit in the palm of your hand. But what if the insects were much larger, and more bloodthirsty, than you? That's a situation no-one would want.

Unfortunately for entomology enthusiast Oribe Mutsumi and her classmates, that's exactly what they face when their plane crashes over a mysterious island during a school trip. Launched in 2014, The Island of Giant Insects, or Kyochuu Rettou features plenty of gruesome deaths and fanservice as the group of students try to survive. As the manga is about to release its sixth volume in Japan, a one-off anime will be bundled alongside it, produced by Passione (High School DxD Hero, Citrus, Hinako Note). It's possible that the one-off could kickstart a full anime adaptation, but until then check out the teaser below.

The manga's sixth volume, and the special, will be released on June 20 next year. Does this premise sound good to you? Let us know what you think in the comments.

The manga is a weird, guilty pleasure for me. It does a lot of the things that turned me off of Highschool of the Dead, but it does more than a lot of series with the giant bug idea than just make them big. The bugs aren't all the same size, they attack each other, and major characters do die. It's a very mixed bag for me, but I also can't really stop myself from following it.

the series has lots of rape suggestion and inaccurate insect information whats not to hate

I'm interested, but hesitant as to how gory or how much fan-service there'll be. I like to much fan service and it just would seem like it's trying to be too light hearted and ruin the impact of the threat the insects bring, but to gory and it might as well be snuff material.

Eugh. I hate close up shots of bugs in textbooks. Sounds like something I can't watch.
