Azur Lane Brings Sexy Ships to Anime
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

I'm not really a mobile gaming kind of person. I'd much rather spend my time playing, well, real games. But I've seen plenty of great lewd art inspired by characters from the Azur Lane series, so I have been tempted to check it out purely for the ship waifus. But now it looks like I won't have to.

Bibury Animation Studios (Grisaia: Phantom Trigger) will be bringing us an anime adaptation based on the mega-popular Chinese mobile game franchise, which has also spawned several light novels, manga, an audio drama and even an upcoming game. Directed by Tencho (Grisaia), the series will feature Mai Nakahara (Junia Loxar in Fairy Tail) as Akagi and Yui Ishikawa (Mikasa Ackerman in Attack on Titan) as Enterprise.

If you've never heard of it, Azur Lane is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up/simulation game for mobiles, where you collect moe versions of famous World War 2 battleships to fight against invading aliens. Between missions you can care for your shipgirl waifus in a dormitory and can even marry them once you've levelled them high enough. Catch the PVs for the anime below.

Azur Lane's anime adaptation will debut in Japan this October. Will you be looking forward to it? Are you a fan of the game? Who's your ship waifu? Let us know in the comments!
