Update: I wrote this article before the artist came out trying to clear things up, and also the original poster deleted their thread. Still a interesting article and how it all played out, but I'll be writting a follow up article for it.

You might have seen a cool picture of a scared, muscular Maki circulating around the web. It was a really popular image, and was presented in a lot of memes and Tiktok videos.

The artist Masoq, got pretty popular because of they’re sexy Maki “drawing”. But recently, a user by the Duffmox made a whole thread calling them out for using A.I.

The thread is really fucking long, so if you want to read all the allegation, you can check out the thread here. But many of the things pointed out are bad anatomy, that doesn’t make logical sense like finger positions, and arm placements. To the artist using a lot of blur effects to hide the A.I. mistakes.

Even popular artists you might recognize are weighing in on the situation.

It’s scary, cause I thought I was good at spotting A.I. art, but I’ve been getting fooled for awhile. Masoq art looks so unique and doesn’t present the generic, glossy look that you can find with most A.I. art. So the funny thing is, even with all the facts in my face, I still for some reason, or want to believe, that Masoq isn’t using A.I. This really makes me wish they’d make a post, proving the allegations wrong.

With even using A.I., you’ll still have many who support the artist and enjoy their “art”. Like with everything, just crying and bitching isn’t going to make Masoq change their ways. If these allegations start hitting their Patreon, then we might see them changing the way they draw, or finally speaking on the allegation. But since I never donated in the first place and always checked out their art for free, I can still like they’re art right?
