"Sacred Sword," Get It? It's a Dick!
By Pr0nShark2 • 5 years ago

Using the term “sacred sword” as a euphemism for cock may be a corny pun, but there’s nothing corny or lazy about Sacred Sword Princesses. Quite the contrary, in fact. The game is so intensely, deeply and intricately detailed it’s really quite daunting even looking at the menu page. Sacred Sword Princesses does fall into quite a few of the freemium pitfalls that savvy mobile and desktop gamers have come to view cynically, and with good reason—various Gacha drawings, “shard” based acquisition of new characters, AP based continuation, huge equipment libraries etc., etc., etc.—however, the overall immensity of the game, as well as a very detailed and compelling narrative line keep the game engrossing in a way which seldom feels like a grind.

The gameplay itself is incredibly smooth for how immense the overall world and platform is. Leveling comes fairly quick, if you follow the story mode and AP gifts are generous—especially early. The sex sequences are also pretty generously frontloaded and are readily available after they’ve been unlocked in the harem section. All of the sex sequences are fully voiced by a really exceptional Japanese voice acting cast who make sure that each “Ritual of Mani” is as stimulating auditorily as it is visually.

Have I mentioned the art yet? Because holy-MFing-shit the art is exquisite without exception! The character designs are superb and the immersion factor of the world they’ve built around the central premise of a phallic sword.

Aside from the corniness of the “sacred sword” gag (which they really do lean on early and often), the writing otherwise is fairly well done. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not terribly original, but for an ecchi ero game, it’s really compelling. The characters are all well-rounded and diverse, with their own motivations and points of view.

The various fighter classes all play differently and have their own unique special attacks. There are also elemental assignments that counter each other in a pretty basic, but infinitely customizable way. Based on roughly two days of intensive play, I found that leveling up occurs quickly enough and with sufficient rewards that I’ve found the game waiting on me more often than I’m waiting on it.

Now, there aren’t really any choices in dialogue sequences or opportunities to customize ore give character to the protagonist that you’re playing and the script sometimes makes pretty broad assumptions about who the individual playing the game is. I would have liked at least one or two dialogue choices, just to throw in some of myself, beyond just picking a name (which ironically can’t contain any adult words, despite the content of the game).

In total, Sacred Sword Princesses is an absolute masterpiece among imported, ero games. It’s so incredibly in depth and expertly coded that even the compulsory friending feature feels nonintrusive and mutually beneficial. If you appreciate Anime and have a taste for Hentai, you really do owe yourself an opportunity to play SSP, as even the very first few story quests place you into very fapable sex scenes.

I, myself, would have preferred a little more variety from one sex sequence to the next, but I’m a fan of extreme themes and recognize that the vanilla style is more ubiquitous—and though the sex scenes occasionally appear slightly repetitive, they are never boring.

I give Sacred Sword Princesses four and a quarter used tissues out of 5. For amazing art, voice acting and depth, but subtract three quarters for vanilla sex and lack of choices in conversation. It’s still a must-play if you’ve got the time and inclination. Do be wary though, it’s very addictive.
