Nintendo Announces Pokemon Sword and Shield

Hype Train is a Rollin'

Switch owners, Pokémon fans, and porn artists rejoice; Nintendo has delivered unto us a new classic style entry into the Pokémon series!

Announced in the Pokémon Direct on 2/27/19, the new game will combine the art style of the two Let's Go games, with the tried and true gameplay of mainline entries. The video showed us the Galar region, the three starters and even the two playable characters.

Sobble, The Water Type: "A somewhat timid Lizard Pokémon, that shoots out attacks as it hides in the water"

Scorbunny, The Fire Type: "A Rabbit Pokémon that is always running about, bursting with energy"

Grookey, The Grass Type: "A mischievous Chimp Pokémon that is full of boundless curiosity"

The Galar region feels a bit more European inspired, with mountains and idyllic farmland shown in the map and video.

The new titles seem to be moving away from the changes of the most recent Switch released Pokémon games. Unlike the Let's Go titles this seems like it will be a return to the random encounter battle and Gym focused style of the main RPGs.

Woop di Doo, but What About The Memes?!

While this trailer and announcement were my jam and right up my alley, the best thing to come from this new game so far has been a direct result of the style of the Galar region and the leads.

Almost immediately the big move was people making the new female trainer Scottish, and oh boy has it been wonderful...

Pokémon Sword and Shield is set to drop "Late 2019", for the holiday season, we will most likely see more at E3. An interesting start and it will be something to keep tabs on!
