Now this is kind of mind blowing to me. Anime Expo, one of the biggest anime conventions, where people celebrate anime, art, games, and everything that is crafted by hardworking humans. Yeah, that place is now advertising their event using AI art, who could have figured.

I had to hurry up and take a screenshot of this, cause I can only expect them to delete this soon, cause this looks like a complete flop and idiotic move. This had to be the decision from some guy in a suit who next interacted with anime in his life, and not someone who’s actually in tune with social media and fans of anime. Because people already know that artists and anime fans are pretty much completely against AI.

And like, you have a whole section detached to artists. You guys have an Artist Alley, so why not hire one of them for the promotion banner. You’re one of the biggest anime conventions, you couldn’t slide some dollars to an artist trying to make a living? Instead, you’d rather type in your computer “guy happy about drawing anime with his hands in the air” in a one dollar a month image generating program, then help someone who’s been practicing and learning how to draw all their life. That shit sounds so fucked up.

Not sure if they’re going to issue an apology for this, or just take it on the chin and learn from their mistakes, or maybe they don’t learn at all. You know these AI bros can be stubborn. And man, I honestly hope there’s no AI artist in the Artist Alley, but I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them tries to sneak in.
