The Video Game Butt Bible: Coming to a Shelf Near You
By Yung Namahage • 5 years ago

We can all appreciate a good ass. For some, a shapely rear is more arousing than even the biggest of busts. It's undeniable that they're also an important part of video games, since in most games with a third person camera angle, the player will inevitably end up observing the protagonist's behind during their whole time playing. It's about time someone decided that there needs to be a full-length book on the various derrieres in gaming.

Video game journalist Laura Kate Dale, known for her contributions to Kotaku and for co-hosting Podquisition alongside Jim Sterling and Gavin Dunne, has authored the upcoming Things I Learned From Mario’s Butt: A Series of Gaming Butt Critiques, an in-depth look into various famous backsides in video game history, as well as their implications and place in their world's lore, and more surprisingly deep insights.

The book's assortment of asses is illustrated by Zack Flavin, and also features commentaries from industry regulars such as the aforementioned Jim Sterling, Zoe Quinn (controversy alert!) and video game rapper Dan Bull, and many more.

We all have our favourite booties in gaming, but it's not just the prominent ones that get their day in the limelight. Of course, there's pages on Miranda from M(ass) Effect, Halo's holographic girl Cortana, and some of the famously thicc waifus from Overwatch, but there's also the less obvious like Master Chief, Luigi and Solid Snake. Then there's the ones that you might not envision immediately when thinking of butts in video games, such as Ellie from Borderlands 2, the Puker from Dead Space or even the Hunter from the Bloodborne disc.

Interested? Things I Learned From Mario’s Butt is currently being crowdfunded on Unbound, so head there if you want to be a part in making this important book a reality.
