The Largest Manga Exhibition Outside of Japan is Coming to London
By Yung Namahage • 5 years ago

While it was once a niche interest outside of its native country, the pheonomenon of manga has now reached all corners of the world in one form or another, and its influence only continues to spread.

To celebrate the continuing popularity of manga, the British Museum will be holding a massive exhibition dedicated to the history, impact and culture of the art form next year. The official website describes it as following:

"Manga is a visual narrative art form that has become a multimedia global phenomenon, telling stories with themes from gender to adventure, in real or imagined worlds."

"Immersive and playful, the exhibition will explore manga’s global appeal and cultural crossover, showcasing original Japanese manga and its influence across the globe, from anime to ‘cosplay’ dressing up. This influential art form entertains, inspires and challenges – and is brought to life like never before in this ground-breaking exhibition."

I'm not sure if they'll have a wing dedicated to hentai or doujins in particular, but it seems interesting enough to check out either way. The exhibition will be running from 23 May to 26 August 2019, and tickets for adults start at £19.50. Check the website here for more details.
