Steam Threaten to Take Adult Games Down #WAIFUHOLOCAUST
By ImJustThatKinky • 5 years ago

Adult game creators have been needing to defend for themselves as of recent. There was the whole thing with Patreon taking down adult creators content if they didn’t meet Patreon taste, which included things such as incest, lolis, and rape (you know, I’ll the things us fucked up people enjoy). Things have comedown there at Patreon and creators have found way around it, but there’s still a lingering fear in the air about the subject. The next company to hop on the racism against adult video games train is none other than Steam.

This was first brought to light on May 17 when the creator of Huniepop, HunieDev, received a message from Valve stating that Huniepopviolates the rules & guidelines for pornographic content on Steam." HunieDev voiced their thoughs on twitter.

- IMPORTANT NOTICE - I've received an e-mail from Valve stating that HuniePop violates the rules & guidelines for pornographic content on Steam and will be removed from the store unless the game is updated to remove said content. @HuniePotDev

I am following up with Valve to resolve the issue in the best way possible. Will keep you guys posted. @HuniePotDev

I am 100% sure that steam is not going to take games out of your library that you already paid for. @HuniePotDev

After this, other creators came out such as, Lupiesoft, NEKO WORKs, MangaGamer, Top Hat Studios, WinterWolves Games, Sekai Project, and Dharker Studios talking about also receive a threat of removal from Steam.

Steam has went back on their statements and have sent back notices to HuniePot, Lupiesof, and MangaGamer in which they tell them to disregard the previous violation notices and talk of removal. This is good news for the developers of those titles but this shows that Steam is still riding a slippery slope when it comes to adult games which can be scary, which HunieDev pointed out in their tweet.

--- #WAIFUHOLOCAUST UPDATE --- I have just received word from Valve apologizing for the confusion, saying to DISREGARD their previous e-mail about the violation, that they are in the process of re-reviewing the game and will follow up soon.

I should be clear this doesn't mean we're out of the woods. It just means we have an interesting development. Whatever the case, the communication and clarification from Valve is very, very much appreciated. @HuniePotDev

And with everything going down with Steam, the alternative Nutaku, home of adult video games, voiced their opinion and concerns.

Today many great game developers on Steam have received threats that their games will be removed for having “sexy” content. When with the stigma around sex and gaming finally end? @nutakugames

Steam going back on their arrangement with erotic VN/game devs after talks last year is really disappointing. At our panel during AX2017 someone asked if we were concerned about Steam going into adult games… looks like that ship has finally sailed. @nutakugames

COME ONE COME ALL; NUTAKU IS THE HOME OF HENTAI AND ADULT GAMING If you know of anyone affected by Steam's decision to remove mature games for having sexual content, let them know they have a home on Nutaku! Reach out to community@nutaku.net for more info! @nutakugames

Nutaku is trying to climb up to hero status with their statement. Looking out for the underdogs of the adult games industry when people try to put them down. Thanks Nutaku you're the best!

Do you think the way people treat adult games are stupid? Is Steam now a unsafe place fore adult video games? Is Nutaku the NU hero for adult video games? Tell us in the comments below.
