Song of Saya Gets an Encore on Steam
By Yung Namahage • 4 years ago

A decade after its original release, Nitroplus' renowned eldritch eroge Saya no Uta/Song of Saya is getting a remastered rerelease, complete with brand new artwork and a new engine.

Written by Gen Urobuchi of Psycho-Pass and Puella Magi Madoka Magica fame, you play as a medical student named Fuminori Sakisaka, who survives a car crash that killed his parents. This ordeal gives him agnosia, making him see the world in a horrific new light, with humans appearing as terrible monsters. He then comes across a mysterious, beautiful young girl named Saya, but in reality she is anything except who she appears to be, and the two begin a relationship with dire implications.

The visual novel has also inspired a three issue western comic series by Daniel Liatowitsch and Todd Ocvirk as well as a number of fanmade spinoffs and sequels, and a live action movie is in production.

As a fan of Lovecraftian lovin' I've had my eye on this title for a while, so I'm pretty excited to check out the new & improved version. JAST USA have confirmed that it'll be released on Steam in the west at the end of the month, but no release date has been confirmed yet.
