People Who Dropped Banana Fish Because of the Yaoi Tag?
By ImJustThatKinky • 5 years ago

Hey, are you gay? Of course you are, because you’re watching Banana Fish. Anyone who’s watching Banana FIsh is gay, didn’t you see the yaoi tag? If you watch anything with the yaoi tag you’re automatically gay. You didn’t know that? Alright enough of me fucking around and let me get to the point. I heard that a lot of people dropped Banana Fish because they saw the yaoi tag, which seems very close minded and stupid...depending on what the yaoi tag entails.

Okay, I know what this looks like but don't leave. Please! I can explain!

Simply put, Banana Fish is not a yaoi. It’s a crime action drama with yaoi elements sprinkled in here and there to develop the characters and move the plot along. Now I’m not saying that if you don’t want to watch a show because it’s a yaoi then you’re a bad person, no. If you don’t want to watch a show about two guys falling in love and fucking each other in the ass, that’s totally fine, do you boo. But, if you drop a show just base on the fact that it has gay elements or characters in it, then you’re a close minded dumbass.

Example, Men in Black is a popular Sci-fi movie about two secret agent men who go around killing aliens. Now what if we spinned it and made the two male characters gay? The story is the same but they might just hold hands and flirt with each other from time to time. With that simple change I can see that movie being avoid by many people, it also might not be as popular as it is today.

Netflix’s new series, Gay Men in Black.

Characters being gay shouldn’t be a reason not to watch something, or hate it. People hated on Banana Fish solely on the fact that it had yaoi in it, before even giving the show a try. I’ve watched up to 19 episodes and I’ve been enjoying it and all it’s gay glory so far.

Are you watching Banana Fish? Would you drop a series for having the yaoi tag? Who is your favorite gay character in anime? Tell us in the comments below.
