It Never Ends: PlayStation Censors Dragon Star Varnir and Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation
By Kasaix • 5 years ago

In an ongoing mission to inform people when censorship rears its Puritan head, I bring you this: the PS versions of Dragon Star Varnir and Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation will be censored. Idea Factory International, the fine folks bringing these titles to the west, have confirmed as such in their article HERE. The key part there is this: the PS4 will see a removal of 2 CG illustrations each, which was done so that they could be released on the PS4. An interesting tidbit is that this isn't just the western version, it's all regions seeing this nonsense. Yeah, including the JP version.

Interesting to note is that Date A Live: Rio Reincarnation saw a release on the PS3 and Vita in 2015, and only the western version got the shaft. A tweet from Idea Factory, seen HERE, does provide some hope. The key part is this:

"we have plans in place to make sure that we can bring all future titles to the West in their full entirety."

I hope that happens. A bit more hope: as always, the Steam versions of these titles will have all the good parts. Steam users, you continue to see the best versions of the games.
