When I saw the art style and the blood, I just knew who made this series. All the cover was missing was some goblin rape, and it would have been too on the nose. But with this series focusing on something different than just goblins, I wonder how different it’s going to be.

BLADE & BASTARD is a dark fantasy about a dead man resurrected without memories who's spending his days recovering the corpses of adventurers in a dungeon until he meets a female swordsman who is the sole survivor of her party.
I’ll be honest, the summary doesn’t really hook me, and I also fell off Goblin Slayer. I do want to pick it back up, but that just kind of shows you how much its premise kept me interested. Like, the concept of someone just out to kill only goblins was a cool gimmick at first, but it kind of got tiring after awhile. And I’ve watched enough of the anime to know that the story is more than just goblin slaying, but still. But, just like Goblin Slayer, once the anime drops, I’ll be there to give BLADE & BASTARD a try. The anime was announced, but a release date or studio hasn’t been confirmed as of yet. I just hope the author doesn’t fall into the trap of not being able to write anything different and every other story after Goblin Slayer, is just another piece trying to copy its success.
Have you heard of BLADE & BASTARD before this? Have you watched Goblin Slayer? Do you think this is just going to be a copy? Tell us in the comments.
