I played Highguard, the game that Geoff Keighley bravely had as the last game to showcase at the 2025 Game Awards. In my opinion, the reveal was super underwhelming, and I feel like it being the last game did it more damage than good. But I’ll also be honest, I don’t think I would have tried it out if it wasn’t the last game of the event. Cause I would have written it off as any other hero shooter. So hey, at least they were able to get one person to play it. And what do I think about the game now that I’ve played it? Well…it’s pretty good.
The game is getting a lot of negative reviews on Steam. Some are valid, while others are just trying to be dicks and clown on the new game. But you know your boy Kinky, he’s going to give you guys his honest opinion. Even if people hate me in the comments for it afterwards. So just my quick impressions. It’s a fun shooter that is more fun when you have two other friends on your team, since it’s a 3 v 3. The gameplay loop is fun, and has a good variety of characters with different abilities. While playing with my friends, I was having a blast, and wanted to keep playing. The only issue really for us is…we kept losing. I don’t know if match making is horrible, or if only FPS pros are playing this game, but we got dominated by every team we came across. It felt like I was going against a bunch of E-sports players. But other than getting washed, the game was pretty damn fun. I def don’t think it deserves the hate it’s getting so far. And I hope people give the game a little more love, cause I would love to see some 3D NSFW animation of one of the game's characters, a Warden named Scarlet.
I’m looking at Scarlet like she’s the Tracer of Highguard, the poster girl. Her design is hot while also being cool, and not overrally in your face like they were trying too hard to be cool, or different. Every piece of clothing fits, and doesn’t feel like an after thought. Tan milky skin, and don’t get me started on those sexy abs.
If anything deserves some more love, it’d be Scarlet. So you might hate Highguard, but don’t hate Scarlet. And also, give the game a try, don’t listen to the people who're just hating on it cause it’s trendy. Give it your own test run, and make a decision yourself. It’s free, so why the hell not.
