Hentai Can't Make Me Cry!
By RinSigua • 6 years ago

I happen to come across this meme:

Then, it hit me. Anime, manga, and games can evoke strong emotions that could make even men cry. I mean, who didn’t cry when Isla of Plastic Memories deactivated, or when Tachibana Kanade suddenly disappeared right in the hands of Otonashi. This is proof that anime, manga, and games are a powerful medium.

But, what about hentai? Can hentai evoke the same strong emotion we see in anime, manga, and games? Let’s ask some other people if Hentai can make them Cry.

Kasaix: I don’t get that emotional with doujins. I either hate them or like them, none have made me shed tears thus far.

Erik:      I mean, I felt bad during ntr ones. But, cry for a doujin character? Not really.

Erik:      If we’re talking about VN’s, that’s another story.

Kasaix: Visual Novels haven’t made me cry either. I’ve only read [played] a few though.

Ok, it seems some of the people here at Doujins are hard-boiled men. Let’s ask some of my D&D (Dungeons and Dragons, for those who didn’t know) pals if they’ve shed a tear from hentai.

Acer:           My girlfriend liked Believe Machine. She read the whole thing twice.

KurakiRinSigua: Okazen’s Believe Machine? The robot girl? The one you asked me to download?

Acer:           Yeah, that one.

Mylaela:     Oh, me! Me! I cried on some of Homunculus’ doujins!

Krunchi:      I’m sorry, I don’t know “doujins,” I’m too pure.

Acer:           …

KurakiRinSigua: …

Mylaela:     …

Krunchi:      …

Krunchi:      I cried laughing reading the Es series, does that count.

Well, it seems my party is more, shall I say, open, to their feelings in regards to hentai. I searched for some other people’s answer in Gamefaqs if they have something to say.

Hikari_Sword:    Ozaken's Believe Machine managed to do just that to me.

FateStayAlbion:  I cried during Sharin no Kuni a couple times.

UnhappyDeath:  I found Bible Black to be a very touching story.

Irony:                  Yes, out of my wiener.

Dkrdude3:          Does masato tsukimori's "chrysalis" count as hentai? Because that made me want to die. I had tears in my eyes and nearly threw up.

MajinUltima:      Yes. Re-Take and Monster Girl Quest Part 2 both have.

lion224:              Tsukihime got me at some moments.

MasterTurtle:     homonculus stuff tugs at the heartstrings occasionally

DK DeathKnight: Harvest Night, I shed a man tear when the guys sister got raped and then her friend dragged her body to the bridge out of the slum but couldn’t make it and she lay there on the concrete destined to never get out and see the greener grass.

Katon:                 No.

OtakuD50:          No, but Suika and One made me have so many feels.

(RinSigua: yeah, Suika made me cry way back. That was like the Clannad and Kanon of hentai)

Rizaadon007:     if we're including VN's, Tsukihime made me cry a bit. I think... I don't remember.

Natwaf_akidna: Oh man Re-Take. If we're counting VNs, Majikoi. Vids though? Nah.

Dark5009:          Once. An little h-manga by Yukimi called Cherry Pink. The ending was what made me sad. First time I ever shed a tear from reading an h-manga ha.

Natwaf_akidna:  Cherry Pink... oh, is that where the protag has Mushroom hair and wear glasses?

Undead587:        If we're including VNs, the answer is yes. There's been a couple of VNs with a great, touching story that happened to also have a bit of hentai thrown in. There's also the "Ribbon Scene" in Monster Girl Quest 2.

Silver_Ogre:       Yes. Chiisana Kuma. It was very nostalgic.

Skandrae:        MGQ Part 2 got me a bit. It wasn't even anything special, it was just the fairly quick whiplash from the first game and a half being all fun and porn, to the last half of the second being kinda serious, to the last part being OMGDEMFEELS.

Hmmm. Okazen Believe Machine, Tsukihime, Suika Wet Summer Days… I’m noticing a trend here. These hentai feels, aside from the infamous Emergence, were made before 2010. Does that mean that romantic drama in doujins is now out of date? Maybe that’s a topic for another time.

What about you? Has hentai made you cry? Do you have anything to add? Do you have any suggestions and recommendation? Please tell us about it in the comments below. Thank you for reading!
