I feel like if you were a kid during the 2000’s and you enjoyed anime, then .hack must have been a part of your childhood. I never really watched the show, but I did randomly catch it on TV. It’s a classic in the anime sphere, and I always found it interesting. It was Sword Art Online, before Sword Art Online. You also might be surprised to know that .Hack was a video game on the Playstation 2, before it was an anime. And the video game is seemingly getting a reboot.



.hack//Z.E.R.O. is CyberConnect2 going back to their roots. I wrote an article about how CyberConnect2 was going to celebrate their anniversary with a special game announcement, which everyone speculated was going to be a Jujutus Kaisen arena fighter. I’ll be honest, kind of disappointed that we didn’t get that, but this is looking to be good in its own rights.

.hack is a series of action RPGs, so something in the fashion of something like the Tales series, over something like Persona. The Playstation 2 games look fun and interesting, but trying to go back and play older games can sometimes feel like a chore. So it’s always nice to get reboots like this. And I’ll be keeping an eye out for more .hack//Z.E.R.O. news.
