Final Fantasy VII Remake Listed As 'Action Game' in Job Listing
By Kasaix • 5 years ago

What's this? A JRPG game getting front-page coverage on Doujins? Well, it's FF VII, so yeah, it is. We discussed how Tifa should look in the remake, with her cute and sexy self for us to oogle as she kicks the tar out of ShinRa goons, but that's not the topic here. Recent news concerning the remake that everyone is hyped as hell to play has some fans troubled. Along with the fact that Kitase has said that they're still planning the ShinRa building as of June 30, 2018, a location players go to before they even leave Midgar, a job listing has hinted that the game will be more action than RPG. Before we dive into that, let's take the millionth look at the trailer that had fans in tears that fateful E3.

I know we're concerned that Tifa might be toned down enough to fit in a nun's habit, but Cloud looks like he needs help. Like, he's on drugs and gets no sleep. Cloud in Advent Children looked badass. But I digress.

The job listing is seeking a 3D CG designer who can create VFX effects via Unreal Engine 4’s cascade particle editor. It describes the occupation as “a position that will carry the core of Final Fantasy VII Remake that is being remade as an action game” and “a chance to challenge the world with a new Final Fantasy action”. The trailer does look more action than RPG, something close to Crisis Core, Zack's outing as the protagonist on the PSP.  Crisis Core was an epic game, there's no argument there. However, FF VII was a classic turn-based RPG game. This is what the fans are expecting. It leaves one wondering: will the remake get swallowed up by unfettered hype and expectation like No Man's Sky? Let's hope not.

What do you make of the job listing suggesting that action is the core of FF VII? Sound off in the comments below.
