2018 was a wild year. What was once one of the oldest antagonists in video game history suddenly became everyone's waifu. One seemingly innocuous comic strip showed Mario's rival using a super crown, which enables Toadette to transform into into a human form resembling Princess Peach, and thusly transforming into "Bowsettte," retaining the shell, horns and spiked attire of his (her?) former self plus a similar body shape and hair to Peach.

Needless to say, the internet blew up with more art of the fanmade character, especially on the more NSFW territories of the web. Bowsette was even one of the most popular search terms on PornHub last year, which is definitely quite the achievement.

So how did Nintendo react? The official website for New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe includes a tongue-in-cheek reference to the internet phenomenon, but at the same time officially renders Bowsette non-canon. 

So it looks like Bowser won't be appearing as a well-endowed human woman in any official releases by Nintendo. Don't fret though, modders have been hard at work inserting Bowsette in other games, so rest assured there are still ways you can live out your fantasies with her in the world of gaming.
