Mega Man is one of those classic games that defined a genre. It helped to set the standard on running and gunning 2D games. It goes without saying that there's going to be clones of it around, some good, and some not so good. Core Awaken ~HexDesire Princess YUKA~ falls into the former category. It's a Mega Man-like game with plenty of cute girls and ecchi situations to enjoy.
The classic Mega Man tropes are on display in this game, and they still work. The premise harkens back to Mega Man X: enslaved robots rise up against humanity, and players take on the role of a robot fighting on behalf of the humans. Yuka, our super fighting robot, can choose which level to undertake, which will feature a cute girl at the end of it. In lieu of the Mega Buster, Yuka employs beam swords that trail behind her like a pair of wings or cape. It's a hack 'n' slash game with simple, yet nostalgic gameplay.
The overall graphics and controls are a bit stiff. It plays at being something of a prototype, without one last polish before being shipped. It doesn't detract much from the game, and it shouldn't turn off potential players, but it is easy to see.
The game shines in deeper gameplay with equips and stats that affect how Yuka fares in battle.
The ecchi and lewd situations are given a bit more detail than the normal gamplay would suggest, and players should note that not all of them seem completely invited by Yuka or the other girls, so bear that in mind with your own kinks before picking this game up.
