An Interview with Kathcakes

Kasaix: Friends and enemies of Doujins, allow me to introduce the great Kathcakes! She’s a talented artist who shows off her cute and sexy works for all to see. I’ve been following her work for quite some time, and recently reached out to her for a brief chat. That said, please welcome Kathcakes!

Thanks for hanging out. How’s it going?

Kathcakes: Oh, I’ve been doing surprisingly well the past couple weeks ever since all that stalking incident. I’m honestly doing better? Whoa.

Kasaix: Stalking incident?! Damn, when it rains, it typhoons for you, doesn't it?

Kathcakes: Oh, it’s just some private issues. I had to quit social media for a while because of that stuff. I’m back now though! Also, yes lol

Kasaix: Ah I remember. You made a post saying you had to leave for a bit. I'm glad you're doing better. It was heartening to see the outpouring of support for you. You have some solid fans, which would include me.

Let's move on to brighter topics. You're a talented artist, so I've been wondering: how did you get your start in such a creative field?

Kathcakes: Pfft, thanks a bunch!

Honestly, I just liked to draw boobs when I started out in the creative field. It started off as a little obsession from Adventure Time, and the next thing I know, I’m already drawing stuff like this! It started when I was in the fifth grade, when I was like, 11?

Kasaix: And here I was doodling stars and cubes, you were on another level. Adventure Time is also a great series to watch to get creative ideas, they do everything in that show.

What are your favorite things to draw? Like, certain characters or themes, and so on.

Kathcakes: Pfft, can I tell you something? I used to own a page called “Fionna the Cute Human Girl”. IT WAS A GLORIOUS TIME, HONESTLY.

Usually it’s my OCs, Kat and Candy that I draw, and there will be more OCs I have to introduce to you guys soon~

At the moment, I draw my interests. Currently it’s Narmaya from Granblue Fantasy!

Kasaix: I like Fionna, she really is cute. What happened to the page?

Kathcakes: Fionna was my favorite too. I grew up chubby so I really liked her. I think that was when my want to draw thicc girls was manifested... Wow. The page rn is pretty dead; some person from a big Finn page scammed me and took the page from me, I was honestly devastated LOL

Kasaix: Fionna is definitely a good thicc character. Thicc and badass with a magic cat. Whoever scammed the page from you really can't call themselves a fan, Adventure Time is all about friendship and adventure. Finn or Fionna would kick their ass. Are you going to try to revive the page elsewhere?

Kathcakes: Nah, I don’t have any access to the page right now. For now I’ll just focus on giving my dear followers the support that they need from me <3

Back to OCs though

Candy

and this girl

caught my eye. Candy is the abusive yandere type who might care about you. The other girl with horns just wants people to smile apparently.

How did they came about?

Kathcakes: Ahahahaha, well, if you want my words about it, Candy is the type of character I absolutely despise. But if I were to be honest, I base off my OCs on my personalities! Candy is just a more exaggerated version of a personality trait of mine. Moving on to the horned girl... Her design is actually a character from ‘Granblue Fantasy’, her name being ‘Narmaya’, an older sister type character! I really love her so I decided to draw her~

In OC’s though, I have to admit, Kat is my most favorite. Not to mention this new Yandere OC I just recently revealed. She has no name yet tho, hehe!

Kasaix: This yandere girl then.

Could you tell us about Kat? And maybe provide a link to her because I can't find her in your gallery?

Kathcakes: Kat is my main page mascot. I think I’ve posted a complete piece of her before, hold on~

Kat is wholly based off of me, or at least, a person I want to be. She’s very sweet and wholesome, but very lewd as well!

Kasaix: Very nice.

What's your process when beginning a project like this?

Kathcakes: What do you mean? Like, creating an oc, or just drawing in general?

Kasaix: Drawing in general.

Kathcakes: Sometimes I like to draw on paper and then trace it to digital

Most of the time I sketch it out!

Sometimes making uses of posing references or the placement of the anatomy~

It’s not that hard at first...

But then it gets a little complicated in terms of anatomy! That’s why it takes me more or less an hour to finish usual sketches.

Kasaix: What program and/or device do you use to trace and draw digitally?

Kathcakes: ibisPaint x on mobile! That’s my usual device... it’s a little hard at first to get used to because of the small screen, but you get used to it and eventually rely on it a lot!

Kasaix: Interesting, so you do all this on a mobile device!
