An Interview with Flick: Warhammer Looks Interesting
By Kasaix • 5 years ago

Kasaix: Hello, fine people of Doujins! We’re here for an interview with a talented artist with a unique style and storyline to follow. I speak, of course, of Flick, who is well-known for a comic following Brother Dimetrius, a monk in the Warhammer 40k universe surrounded by sexy women as he serves the Emperor. It’s an enviable situation that has had me looking into the series, if only to learn more about the universe.

With that said, thank you for taking the time to hang out Flick. How’s it going?

Flick: I'm still alive and ready to answer questions

Kasaix: How did you first get into art? What made you grab some pencils and paper to draw?

Flick: It was in the kindergarten when I was 6. I took a toy pirate and turned it around on paper (traced?). I liked that the little man on paper was in action. After that, I began to draw running men himself and eventually became obsessed with drawing. And cartoon about the Ninja Turtles (80s) and Hi-Men made me try to draw muscles and something like anatomy. And since then I have drawn whole my life regularly.

Kasaix: Do you have a professional education in art, or are you self-taught?

Flick: In childhood, I went to an art school where I drew jugs and plastic fruits.

Kasaix: What is your favorite subject to draw when it comes to girls and story themes?

Flick: I like yuri stuff, fantasy and history themes.

Kasaix: Where do you get ideas for your projects?

Flick: From noosphere, I guess.

Kasaix: What do you consider your best work of art, either comic or stand-alone image?

Flick: There is no such. Sometimes I'm afraid to look at my old art, because I see how bad they are. But, as far as I can tell, many people liked arts about Dimetrius.

Kasaix: What is a dream project of yours, something you feel you must work on?

Flick: Fairytale-style fantasy about lesbian princess who saves other princesses from dragons and other creatures.

Kasaix: Let’s discuss the Warhammer series you’ve been working on. What first brought Warhammer to your attention, and what made you decide to draw an ongoing comic about it?

Flick: That were videogames. Honestly first picture about Dimetrius was a fanart to DOW: Soulstorm. Yeah, I’m not true fan who play original wargame and paint miniatures.

Total War: Warhammer inspired me to draw something in FB setting.

Kasaix: Are you very good at the game, or is it mostly a hobby to help with the comic?

Flick: If you mean videogame. I play just for fun, but I’m not very good at them.

Kasaix: Could you tell us a bit more about Brother Dimetrius? The Emperor gave him some very interesting powers.

Flick: Well. We don’t know so much about his powers. But there’re some theories. For example, he could be sensei. That could explain why he looks so young in all pictures. Another theories is that he’s living saint (beginner). Or he could be sensei and living saint at the same time. That could explain everything. Anyway, Dimetrius’s prayer increase morale of Imperium’s citizens, and they fight with greater enthusiasm for the Emperor.

Kasaix: How long can we expect to see the comic going? I’m certain we all enjoy seeing the monk “pray” with the various women he fights with.

Flick: The universe is big, so it can be a long

Kasaix: Let’s wrap this up, shall we? I don’t want to take up too much of your time. Do you have any final words for your fans?

Flick: Be nice to each other.

Another huge thanks to Flick for hanging out with us. If you’d like to follow all the great work, here are some links to consider bookmarking.
