I know we all enjoyed Toonami back in the day, but now with how easy it is to find anime online, and how TV is pretty much dead now, there’s really no need to toon into Toonami anymore. So, it’s kind of crazy when you see that Toonami is now adding English subs to the rotation.

What makes it even funnier, is that they picked Ninja Kamui. If you’re not familiar with Ninja Kamui, it’s an anime that’s airing this season that looks and feels really western inspired.



Maybe they're trying to hit a more open audience, people who aren’t super into anime. Which is weird, since times have really changed, and things that are super anime-like like Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan, are really popular with non anime fans. So I don’t think companies need to try super hard to make American feeling anime to try to appeal to a different demographic. A good show is just a good show.

And my only real issue with playing English subs on live TV, is that I’m fucking stupid, and sometimes can’t read fast. I feel like watching subs on TV, without the ability to pause it, is tragic. I feel like I would have to have my eyes glued to the screen 24/7. If characters are talking too fast, I better just pray that I got the gist of their conversation. Just a little first world problem, but it’s a problem all the same.

But that's just my opinion. I enjoyed Toonami because it was my place where I could enjoy English dubbed anime. Not sure how I would feel if it started pushing for me to subbed anime. But, like again, it’s on TV. So I’m not sure how many people are watching Toonami in the first place.
